Junior Data Steward
We are looking for a Junior Data Steward to join our data team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of data governance. Reporting to the Lead Data Steward, this role will be responsible for monitoring data quality, maintaining the data catalogue and making sure the governance rules and definitions we set are applied consistently across the organisation.
This is a role for someone who takes data seriously, likes working with processes and frameworks and has the discipline to keep things consistent and well documented.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor data quality dashboards and alerts daily and log anomalies and issues as they arise;
Maintain the data catalogue: data dictionary, business glossary and metadata records kept accurate and up to date;
Apply and validate data classification tags and ownership assignments as defined by the Lead Data Steward;
Track data quality issues, follow resolution progress and escalate unresolved or critical issues to the Lead Data Steward;
Support the governance framework audit by collecting evidence and reviewing documentation coverage;
Maintain governance documentation: data contracts, quality rule definitions and SLA records;
Liaise with data engineers and analysts to clarify data definitions and validate metadata;
Prepare regular governance status reports for the Lead Data Steward;
Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance operations by flagging process gaps and suggesting improvements within the defined framework.

Professional Competencies
Previous experience in the energy, utilities or telcos sector is a plus (not mandatory);
Previous experience in a data governance, data quality or data management role is a plus.
Leadership Competencies
Collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
Qualifications
Education / Further Education
Information Management, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar.
IT Know-how
Basic SQL for data validation and querying;
Familiarity with Databricks on Azure or Unity Catalog is a plus;
Experience working with data in an operational or analytical context, even if not in a formal governance role;
Familiarity with data cataloguing or data quality tools (any platform).
